Privacy policy

Effective September 22, 2026. This explains what Read the Room collects, why, and how you can control it.

Information we collect

Profile info you choose to give us: a display name (yours or an alias), a broad age range, your country, and an avatar you pick or generate — none of this requires your real name, email, or phone number. Gameplay data: your daily answers, streak, points, prediction accuracy, and badges earned. Optional sign-in: if you choose to back up your streak, we link your account to your Google or Apple sign-in. Depending on what you approve on that provider's own screen, this may share your name and email address with us. A push notification token, only if you turn reminders on, so we can send the daily results notification and streak reminders. Content you submit: if you write your own take, that text is shown to other players.

What we don't collect

We don't collect your precise location, contacts, photos, or browsing activity, and we don't use advertising trackers.

How we use it

To run the core game — matching your answers against the room's, tracking your streak and points, and showing leaderboards. To personalize the app, like showing your country and comparing you to your region. To send notifications, only if you've turned them on.

Who we share it with

Supabase, our backend and database provider, stores your account and gameplay data on our behalf. If you link a Google or Apple account, that company processes your sign-in under its own privacy policy. Expo's push notification service delivers notifications, if you've enabled them. We do not sell your data.

Your choices

You can change your country, age range, avatar, or name at any time in Settings. You can turn reminders on or off at any time. You can delete your account and everything tied to it at any time from Settings — this is permanent and cannot be undone.

Children's privacy

This app is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age where you live), and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app changes. Continuing to use the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.

Terms of service

By using Read the Room, you agree to these terms.

Your account

Your account is tied to this device unless you link a Google or Apple sign-in. You're responsible for keeping access to that linked sign-in secure.

Acceptable use

Be a good sport. Don't submit takes or reactions that harass, threaten, or contain hate speech, illegal content, or spam. We may remove content or suspend accounts that break this.

Content you submit

If you submit a take, you're granting us the right to show it to other players inside the app. You're responsible for what you write.

No guarantees

The game is provided "as is." We try to keep it running smoothly but can't promise it will be error-free or always available.

Changes

We may update these terms or the app itself over time. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the new terms.

Termination

You can stop using the app and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that break these terms.
